Brighty was rescued from a "kill buyer" at a livestock auction. He is a handsome Mini Donkey,@7 years old. He is still a Jack (not castrated) because castration should be done after fly season. Brighty is a great Donkey, he leads great, kids can handle him, he is very good for the farrier and vet. He gets along great with my mini horses but doesnt like the (regular horse) geldings. He also does not like dogs. He would be a great livestock guardian animal, protecting sheep, goats or cattle from coyote or other predators (roaming dogs). Not sure if he is broke to ride, but he is very well trained on lead and will lead over obstacles.Adoption processour applications give an introduction to the dog including age, size, breed or educated guess at breed mix, any temperament quirks or likes/dislikes, housebroken/not, required exercise, care, fenced yard, other dogs, cats etc. We look for great matches for the individual dog and we do check multiple references before approving the adoptor.Shelter locationby appointment only
