2018 Grade Appalachian Brumby Gelding, 14.0h He certainly is stunning, isn’t he?! Romero knows how to work a photo shoot for being a recently gelded, previously feral new arrival. He came to us from the Kentucky Humane Society who received him from Eastern Kentucky where the feral herd is increasing in size, making it difficult for the herd to live safely without human intervention. Romero is quickly showing us that he is capable of learning. He can be caught with some patience, leads and backs up, and is beginning to understand groundwork cues. Currently, he is working on responding to pressure, disengaging his hindquarters, and moving each part of his body independently. Romero needs an experienced trainer with previous feral experience to start him from the ground up. He seems to be sound in the field and is gaited. This guy will certainly go far with some training and should be rideable in time. He will need to go to a trainer with starting experience or to the right candidate that can give him the attention he needs. Total price includes: Adoption Fee ($1,000) + Deposit ($250)* = $1,250 *At KYEAC, we require adopters to complete an inspection on the adopted horse 6 and 12 months following adoption. To ensure adopters comply with their inspections, a $250 deposit is required on all horses priced under $2,000, and a $500 deposit is required on all horses priced at $2,000 and up. This deposit is already calculated into the adoption fee. If the adopter complies with the inspections, this deposit will be fully refunded after the requirements of the 6 and 12-month inspection have been met to our satisfaction. If the adopter does not comply with their inspections, their deposit will be forfeited.Adoption processAdoption Process Once a complete application is received, KyEAC will begin the screening process. This usually takes about 2-3 days, depending upon how easy it is to make contact with your references. KyEAC will notify you when your application has been approved, and you may then make an appointment with KyEAC to visit the equine(s) you are interested in adopting. Adopters are responsible for transportation arrangements and costs at the time of the adoption and in the event of return. Adoption fees are non-refundable. We also require adopters to complete an inspection on the adopted horse 6 and 12 months following adoption. Terms of the Equine Adoption and Placement Agreement: The equine may not be raced, bred, sold, given away, assigned or disposed of, nor may any interest in the equine be transferred. The Adopter may only release the equine from his/her care to KyEAC for one year. Transportation arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the adopter at the time of placement and in the event of return. KyEAC has the right to visit the property where the equine resides. If, in the sole discretion of KyEAC, it is determined that the living arrangements and/or care of the equine are inadequate or inappropriate, KyEAC reserves the right to seize and re-take possession of the equine. If the Adopter changes the location of the equine or changes the equine's veterinarian, KyEAC must be provided with the new stabling and veterinarian information within 30 days of said change. In addition, the Adopter agrees to provide KyEAC with any change in his/her address within 30 days of said change. The Adopter agrees to forward a veterinarian's brief statement of the adopted equine's residence, general condition, weight, teeth and hoof condition (a brief health check form will be provided by KyEAC for this purpose twice a year). This form is to be returned to KyEAC six months from the date of adoption and on the one year anniversary of the adoption date.
