Adopt Kix a Chestnut/Sorrel Quarterhorse / Mixed horse in Gallatin
Kix is an AQHA registered gelding who had one owner his entire life. When his owner was diagnosed with a terminal illness, his family reached out and asked for help. Kix was trained as a young horse, but has been an 1100 lb pet for the last decade, giving small children lead-around rides but not being ridden independently. He has always had a mare companion. He is respectful on the ground, ties, leads, stands for the farrier, and has received refreshers in such things as fly spray and lunging. Kix is adoptable to the absolutely perfect forever home. He can go as a companion (he's an easy keeper if he has great pasture available) - as a lead-line horse - or to a patient, experienced rider who is capable of providing a competent tune-up. As of 6/28, we have saddled and lunged him but have not yet ridden him independently. That ride and video is coming as soon as weather and time are available. As with all Safe Harbor horses, Kix is up to date on vaccinations, Coggins, has had a dental check, dewormed, and farrier. He is currently barefoot and has nice feet. Please visit www.safeharborhorses.org and fill out an adoption form if you are interested in Kix.
