Sweet Rescue Pony Ready to Begin Training
Niko is a gelding pony. We got him from animal control after he was neglected. We estimate his age to be 79yrs. Niko is halterbroken and will lead and back up. We have begun a little natural horsemanship training with him and he is learning lunging and hindquarters. He is good with his hooves being handled and stands for the farrier. We can walk right up to him in the pasture to catch him. It appears he had not been handled much before we got him as he has become more friendly in the several months he has been with our rescue. He stands to be saddled but is not broken to ride yet. He has received professional hoof care done by Pete Ramey who is internationally known for his hoof trimming and management of hoof problems. At his last trim everything looked good with his hooves. We are working on basic training with Niko including teaching him to lunge and working on desensitizing so he is very calm with new situations. He has been doing nice with his training! About our rescue horses Our horses have received their basic vaccinations Rabies vaccine EWT combo vaccine at the time of adoption. They have been dewormed and have a negative Coggins test as well. All horses have received a hoof assessment and trimming done by Pete Ramey. We do our best to determine what amount of training they have had and to represent them as accurately as possible. However we usually do not know the history of our horses so we determine training by how the horses act after we get them. Please call ahead or email to set up a time to meet our horses if you are interested in adopting. They are at foster homes so we may need up to a couple days notice in order to schedule a time for you to see them. We will adopt to either permanant homes or to a trainer who plans to school the horse and then find it a longterm home. We desire for our horses to find a good home where the horse will be a good fit with the person adoption himher. With that goal in mind we do our best to accurately represent everything good and bad with our horses. Since they have received a full veterinarian exam many times there are health problems recorded here. The vast majority of horses have at least some health issue though most sellers are unaware if the horse has not recently received a full examination. Therefore keep this in mind if we report a horse has some soreness or lameness issues our horses are likely not less sound than other horses on this site we simply examine them and report all concerns. As part of helping new owners find a horse that is a good fit we offer several valuable services included as part of the adoption charge on our horses. We offer a twelve hour training session with Alexandria Dodgen who trains using natural horsemanship techniques. She will help you learn to handle your new horse in a way that gets your horses listening to and respecting you. She is also available to fully train your new horse though that is not included with the adoption payment. Our goal is to help you and your new horse have the best start possible and to help you find a horse that will be a good longterm fit for you and your family. Offers for training are dependent on you bringing the horse to the trainers facility or potentially paying an additional house call fee at your expense. In addition to the training session CARE also provides 2 weeks free boarding until you can pick up your new horse. Adoption charges are negotiable to the right home.
